Later on, after a year, he moved to Phoenix, Arizona, to continue his grind and reach his goals. Cannonier then started training at the MMA Lab in Phoenix.

By the end of that year, Jared had lost a good amount of weight and moved to Light Heavyweight.

Next Fight 

In 2016, after moving down to the light heavyweight division, he fought Ion Cutelaba at The Ultimate Fighter 24 Finale.

He won the fight via unanimous decision. It also earned him the Fight of the Night bonus award.

Additionally, during UFC 208 on February 11, 2017, Cannonier faced Glover Teixeira and lost the fight via unanimous decision. On July 7, 2017, he was to face Steve Bosse at the Ultimate Fighter 25 Finale.

Reyes defeated him in the first round by TKO(punches). He then lost some weight in order to move down to the middleweight category.
