I'm regifting my daughter's birthday presents from last year for her this year - I don't know if it'

A MUM has caused controversy after revealing she's regifting some of her daughter's birthday presents from last year as her gifts this year.

Elizabeth explained that she can't decided whether or not her "super controversial" plan is "crossing a line" and makes her a "terrible person".

Or whether she's a "literal genius".

In a video on her TikTok page, Elizabeth said that she and her husband have been stocking up on items on sale or at boot sales throughout the year, and putting them in a box downstairs ready to be wrapped for presents as and when they're needed.

But after her daughter had a big party last year with 10 kids and got loads of presents, Elizabeth decided to remove half of the presents without her little girl knowing, and put them in the basement.

"The gifts wouldn't even fit anywhere upstairs, and we couldn't possibly play with them all," she said.

"It was overwhelming."

But what she hadn't thought about was that she'd put the gifts in the same box she'd been adding the presents throughout the year to.

Her husband had also been adding to the box.

So, when it came to wrapping up presents for her daughter's birthday this December, she can't remember whether she bought the gift, or whether it was given to her little girl by a friend.

"I'm like, 'Did we buy her this puzzle? Or did her friend Chloe buy her the puzzle'," she mused.

"I don't remember!

"So I'm going to wrap up this gift and put 'from mum and dad'and it might not be from us.

"What do you think? Does this make me a terrible person?

"Or is this such a genius gifting hack for kids who just get way too much?"

Concluding, Elizabeth added: "My kids are spoiled, they get everything, they have way too many gifts.

"I'm trying to do less this year while still making it a magical Christmas.

"It's a very fine line!"

And people in the comments section were divided as to whether or not Elizabeth's hack was genius - and would also work a treat at Christmas - or wouldn't work at all.

"This is fine, she’s three! But this is probably the last year for it. She’ll remember after 4ish," one wrote.

"I think it was absolutely fine to take away the gifts because there was too much but regifting as if it came from you feels very wrong…" another added.

"10/10, if they're young enough to not have explicit memory of getting it, this is for sure genius," a third insisted.

"Exactly! She doesn’t have a clue! It was so overwhelming for her," Elizabeth replied.

"I feel like the person who bought it should get the credit they deserve for paying for it tho," someone else wrote.

"They do in the moment and we write thank you cards!" Elizabeth responded.

"We put gifts on shelves in the basement and each month on their birthday date we either took them down to pick something to open one," another suggested.

"Year round bday!"

"This is genius!" Elizabeth replied.

"She WILL be telling her therapist that mommy took her birthday presents away and gave them to her for Christmas when she’s older," someone else commented.

"I hope not," Elizabeth replied.

"The fact that she didn’t notice they were gone tells me that 20 gifts for a 3 year old is far too much and actually overwhelming."
