Her Songs About Exes. Hollywood Life

Taylor Swift’s Ex-Boyfriend Songs

1. Harry Styles

It was a match made in music heaven. However, it wasn’t meant to be. Sadly, Haylor broke up in 2013, prompting Taylor to sing her little heart out.

Her hit song from Red, “I Knew You Were Trouble,” could have practically had Harry in the title. Taylor even admitted the song was about the One Direction star.

Here are some of the lyrics about Harry that really got deep:

“I knew his world moved too fast and burned too bright. But I just thought, how can the devil be pulling you toward someone who looks so much like an angel when he smiles at you?”

“And the saddest fear comes creeping in, that you never loved me or her, or anyone, or anything, yeah.”

Taylor took the opportunity to write about the crooner in her latest album, 1989, too. Her song “Out Of The Woods” also references Harry.

“Your necklace hanging from my neck/The night we couldn’t quite forget/When we decided/To move the furniture so we could dance. Baby, like we stood a chance/Two paper airplanes flying, flying, flying…”

This refers to the airplane necklance that both Harry and Taylor were seen wearing during their relationship.

2. Taylor Lautner

Remember the days of Taylor and Taylor? Oh, those were good times. This relationship ended way too soon, and Taylor’s song “Back To December” pretty much said the same thing.

“Your guard is up and I know why/Because the last time you saw me/Is still burned in the back of your mind,” she sings.
“You gave me roses and I left them there to die.”

Followed by, “So this is me swallowing my pride/Standing in front of you saying, ‘I’m sorry for that night,'” she continued in the song. “And I go back to December all the time.”

So sad. We miss the Taylors together!

3. Conor Kennedy

Conor and Taylor engaged in a whirlwind romance in the summer of 2013, and it seemed “young” and “reckless” between these two. Well, that’s what “Blank Space” is all about.

“Cause we’re young and we’re reckless/We’ll take this way too far/It’ll leave you breathless/Or with a nasty scar,” Taylor sings in her crazy video.

Taylor even says she gets “drunk on jealousy!” Is that what brought their relationship to a halt?

4. Jake Gyllenhaal

Jake must have burned Taylor good because “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” is a nasty breakup song from the singer!

“I’m really gonna miss you picking fights/And me falling for it screaming that I’m right/And you would hide away and find your peace of mind/With some indie record that’s much cooler than mine,” she starts out early in the song.

“I remember when we broke up the first time/Saying, “This is it, I’ve had enough,” ’cause like/We hadn’t seen each other in a month/When you said you needed space,” she continues.

Ouch, Tay Tay.

5. Joe Jonas

It seems like forever since Joe and Taylor dated, almost like it was a fairytale we haven’t read in awhile. Well, “Today Was A Fairytale” pays homage to that idea!

“You’ve got a smile that takes me to another planet/Every move you make everything you say is right,” Taylor sings.

Joe sure does have a smile that takes your breath away! No wonder Taylor was mesmerized!

6. John Mayer

If you thought any of Taylor’s other ex songs were personal, just wait for “Dear John.” Taylor’s romance with crooner John Mayer ended on bad terms in 2009, and it’s evident in “Dear John.”

Check out these lyrics:

“Dear John, I see it all now that you’re gone.
Don’t you think I was too young
To be messed with?
The girl in the dress
Cried the whole way home, I should’ve known.

Dear John, I see it all now it was wrong
Don’t you think nineteen’s too young
To be played by your dark, twisted games?”
